CABEÇAS / HEADS, 2021

CABEÇAS são 256 desenho-colagens. Eles são feitos a partir de manchas obtidas por um processo de monotipia sobre vidro: eu espalho a tinta ao acaso sobre o vidro, e coloco sobre a mancha um papel fino que absorve a tinta. Depois de seco, rasgo à mão os limites desta mancha. Os contornos grosseiros sugerem figuras que são completadas com um rasgo para a boca e um outro rasgo para os olhos. Esses restos de papel preto rasgado, retalhos, são colados sobre fundo branco. Cada rosto se individualiza, como único, todos negros, nenhum igual ao outro. Juntos, formam uma multidão.
O conjunto foi instalado em uma parede de 3 x 17 m. Os intervalos entre os desenhos são irregulares, obedecendo à uma rítmica sincopada de acasos, às pulsações de encontros, às distâncias não medidas… [CG]

HEADS are 256 drawing-collages. They are made from stains obtained by a monotype process on glass: I spread the paint at random on the glass, and I place a thin paper over the stain that absorbs the ink. Once dry, I tear the stain edges by hand. The rough contours suggest figures that are completed with a slit for the mouth and another slit for the eyes. These fragments of torn black paper, scraps, are pasted on a white background. Each face is individualized, as unique, all black, none the same as the other. Together they form a crowd.
The set was installed on a 3 x 17 m wall. The intervals between the drawings are irregular, obeying the syncopated rhythm of chance, the pulsations of encounters, the unmeasured distances… [CG]
