LUZIA, 2004

LUZIA foi feito com lâmpadas tubulares verdes, dispostas nos painéis de vidro do saguão do auditório do Centro Universitário Senac. Podia ser visto de fora, a distância, e também de dentro. As lâmpadas, como estrias luminosas, recortavam todo o ambiente em lascas. De dentro para fora e de fora para dentro, os estilhaços da imagem se recompunham na unidade da cor.
Embora as lâmpadas fossem organizadas de modo a propiciar a leitura da palavra LUZIA, ocorria uma quase dispersão – a estrutura não era regular, os intervalos e as inclinações variavam, as letras se misturavam, os fios e os reatores emaranhavam-se como serpentinas, talvez… como no poema-canção de João de Barro: “anda, Luzia/ pega um pandeiro/ vem pro carnaval/ anda, Luzia…” [CG]

LUZIA was made with green tubular bulbs arranged in the glass panels of the auditorium of the Centro Universitário Senac. It could be seen from the outside, from a distance, and also from within. The bulbs, like luminous streaks, cut the space into slivers. From inside to outside and from outside to inside, the fragments of the image recomposed themselves in color unity.
Even though the bulbs were arranged to read LUZIA, there was almost a dispersion – the structure was not regular, the intervals and inclinations varied, the letters got mixed up, the wires and the reactors were entangled like serpentines, perhaps… as in the poem-song of João de Barro: “walk, Luzia/ get a tambourine/ come to carnival/ walk, Luzia…” [CG]
