Para a exposição SCAPE 2008 Christchurch Biennial of Art in Public Space Carmela Gross apresenta o fragmento de frase “REAL PEOPLE” em tubos de luz fluorescente instalados em uma passarela de pedestres na Colombo Street. Ela planejou também incluir o resto da frase “ARE DANGEROUS” noutra passarela similar, em Kilmore Street.
A descontinuidade espacial entre as duas partes da frase propicia uma abertura de sentido e mesmo uma ambíguidade de leitura; entretanto, quando lidas juntas como uma afirmação, elas refletem a retórica do medo que domina e controla muitos aspectos da vida contemporânea.
Como a segunda parte foi censurada, a autora editou o projeto completo num conjunto de dois posters, a fim de resgatar o seu sentido integral.

For the SCAPE 2008 Christchurch Biennal of Art in Public Space Carmela Gross displays the text “REAL PEOPLE” in flurescent tubes on the Colombo Street overbridge. She also planned to include the text “ARE DANGEROUS” on a similar overbridge in Kilmore Street.
Individually the words are vague and open to interpretation. However, when read together as one statement, they reflect the rhetoric of fear that dominates and controls aspects of public life, yet the words remain open ended and ambiguous.
As the Kilmore Street site couldn’t be realised, Gross has represented the complete project as a set of two posters.
