CARNE / FLESH, 2006

CARNE é um título, um nome próprio. Está no início, no meio e no fim da obra-ônibus. No início, porque é o vetor projetivo que se funde como conceito ao veículo ônibus. No meio, porque conduz as operações plásticas, os processos de feitura e a configuração do todo. E no final, porque é uma chave para a apreensão e percepção da obra, um dos seus sentidos ou parte da sua significação.
Para conectar a ideia de carne ao ônibus, foi preciso cobrir o veículo-máquina com muitas camadas de vermelho e forrar todas as suas partes também com tecidos e papéis vermelhos. Mesmo com todas as peculiaridades de um ônibus, o veículo virou uma enorme “massa esponjosa” vermelha, na qual, dentro e fora, transparência e opacidade, porta, janela, capota, chão, teto e banco constituem uma unidade. No letreiro luminoso, indicativo do seu destino, lê-se a palavra “carne”.
Carne quer dizer tecido muscular animal, alimento, coisa-à-venda; e, ainda, a natureza animal ou física do homem. No ônibus CARNE, o bicho-homem se faz um passageiro, para o qual o mundo lá fora, e ele mesmo, são só vermelhidão. Carne viva. [CG]

FLESH is a title, a proper name. It’s at the front, middle and back of the work-bus. At the front, because it is the projective vector that merges as a concept with the bus vehicle. In the middle, because it conducts the plastic operations, the processes of making and the configuration of the whole. And at the back, because it is a key to the apprehension and perception of the work, one of its meanings or part of its significance.
To connect the idea of flesh to the bus, it was necessary to cover the machine-vehicle with many layers of red and to cover all its parts also with red fabric and papers. Even with all the peculiarities of a bus, the vehicle turned into a huge red “spongy mass,” in which, inside and outside, transparency and opacity, door, window, hood, floor, ceiling and seat constitute a unit. In the luminous sign, indicative of its destination, the word “flesh” is read.
Meat means animal muscle tissue, food, something for sale; and also the animal or physical nature of man. In the flesh bus, the man-animal becomes a passenger, for whom the outside world and he himself are just redness. Live meat. [CG]
