HÉLICES / PROPELLERS, 1993

Hélices mostram a dinâmica de relações de cor e forma no espaço, incluindo o espectador como participante. O toque manual propicia a dinâmica da obra: a forma se expande, a cor se desmaterializa e pulsa no ar.
Três são as etapas de sua produção: a escolha da madeira foi feita a partir de fragmentos brutos de madeira de lei, encontrados em marcenarias, carpintarias e depósitos. Depois, foi preciso determinar o ponto de equilíbrio de cada peça de madeira, para instalar os rodízios e garantir sua rotação ao leve toque da mão. Por fim, a pintura, com tinta a óleo, foi aplicada diretamente na madeira, de modo a penetrar em suas fibras.
Para cada uma das peças que compõem a série, escolhi uma tonalidade de azul. [CG]

Propellers show the dynamics of color and shape relationships in space, including the viewer as a participant. The manual touch provides the dynamics of the work: the shape expands, and the color dematerializes and pulsates in the air.
There are three stages of production: the choice of wood was made from raw fragments of hardwood found in carpentry and woodworking shops, and in warehouses. Then it was necessary to determine the equilibrium point of each piece of wood in order to install the casters and ensure its rotation at the slightest touch of the hand. Finally, it was painted with oil paint applied directly to the wood to penetrate its fibers.
For each of the pieces that make up the series, I chose a different shade of blue. [CG]
